After three days of treatment the doctors advised the parents to shift the child to a Bangalore hospital. But the poor labourers who did not even have money for the bus fare returned back to the village on Thursday morning.

Basavaraju, who had no other option sent his wife to request the farm owner for money for the baby’s treatment and was sitting in front of a shop with his child.  It was at this time, Suresh Alwa of Jayakarnataka Association spotted him and came to know of his problem.
He and the Association members swung into action and collected money from the association members, shop keepers and public in the area.

The collection came to around ` 15,000 and they presented it to Basavaraju and immediately shifted the baby in the Association’s ambulance to Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore.

The baby is being treated at the ICU in the hospital on Friday, and is battling for life, according to doctors.

The ICU is being charged Rs 550 per day and the association members intervened and requested the hospital management to waive off the ICU charges, which is said to have been agreeable by them.
