Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar said that there are plans to declare industrial townships in five to six locations in Karnataka.

The Chief Minister in the budget has announced that an industrial township at Peenya would come up at Rs100 crore, he told mediapersons in Mangaluru.
To develop industrial townships, the cooperation of the urban development department is essential.

Despite the pandemic outbreak and economic slowdown, Karnataka has attracted investment proposals worth nearly Rs 1.6 lakh crore in 2020, the highest in India. The state government’s pro-industry measures, including an investor-friendly industrial policy, helped investment amid the Covid-19 pandemic, added the Minister. A total of Rs 4,00,000 crore worth of investment proposals were received in the country.

The Minister further said that 382 projects worth Rs 76,376 crore have been approved in the state. This will help in the generation of 1.77 lakh employment.

To a query on Tesla Inc setting up a manufacturing unit in Karnataka, the Minister said that the government is ready to give all the support to it. The plastic park will come up in Mangaluru, he added.
