Railway overbridge opens to public use

The Union Ministry of Railways has already earmarked funds for the improvement of Krishnagiri-Chamarajanagar railway track works and extension of Hubli-Dharwad Railway Extension works during the last budget and some part of the works has already taken off.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed Railway overbridge at the cost of `14.05 crores at Mariyalahundi gate near Chamarajanagar.

The MP promised to work towards obtaining permission for private players to start reservation counter facility at the Chamarajanagar Railway Station.

The longstanding demand of the public to ease traffic congestion was fulfiled due to the inauguration of the overbridge, he added.

Dhruvanarayan said that a proposal was submitted by District Administration to officials concerned for inclusion of Chamarajanagar -Mysore Road under the list of national highways.

The Union Government is preparing for the upgradation of all state highways covering a distance of 10,000 kilometres as national highways.

Chamarajanagar- Mysore State highway was included in this upgradation list but an official announcement is awaited.

Tenders were invited from bidders for undertaking repair work of Nanjangud-Mysore state highway at a cost of `9 crore and `12 crore proposal was submitted for repair works of Chamarajanagar- Nanjangud Road. However, the Public Works Department would begin the repair works of many roads only after winter season ends.

MLA C Puttarangashetty, Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railways, Mysore Division B B Varma and others were present.

Mariyala gate stoppage soon 

The railway authorities have agreed to stop trains at Mariyala gate near Chamarajanagar for the benefit of passengers.

Senior Divisional Railway Commercial Manager Dr Anup Dayanand Sadhu announced that the stoppage will be on a temporary basis for three months.

It would be made permanent if more than 50 passengers travel from Mariyala gate on a daily basis. Passengers who possess regular train passes can board from this stop. He said that the drinking water crisis at the Railway Station will be set right soon.

An ATM facility, BSNL kiosk, rest rooms, and other facilities would also be provided to public.
