Kodagu students can enroll in any state govt school

In the rain-battered Kodagu district, families have been displaced and several have been rendered homeless. The state, has, however, taken proactive measures to ensure that the education of students residing in the area does not suffer.

Besides the supply of free books, a circular has now been issued by the department of public instruction that students from the affected areas can join schools in any part of the district or the state and continue their education. A letter has been sent to principals of government schools in this regard.

With ground level education officers having briefed by the department that several students have lost their stationery, ID proof and their uniforms and shoes have been damaged, the department has given exemption to the same.

Students can join schools of their choice anywhere in the state without having to submit either birth certificate, transfer certificate or ID proof. They could continue from the same class that they have been attending previously. These students would also be exempted from wearing uniform to school.

In such cases, students or parents, have to submit a self-attested letter and rejoin the same class as they were studying in previously. These students will not have to submit any ID proof or birth certificate to be able to join classes anywhere.

The department has asked officials to submit a title wise indent on the number of textbooks that are needed to replace them for students who have lost it due to the rains. The Karnataka Textbook Society has been directed to immediately meet the demands.
