KSTDC to have second property in Ooty soon

Buyoed by the enthusiastic response for its property - Mayura Sudarshan in Ooty, the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) is now opening a second one.

The new property will be created in the existing old government guesthouse. It is situated adjacent to Sudarshan which is in Fern Hills and offers a scenic view of the renovated Karnataka Siri Horticulture Garden.

The Corporation has begun the renovation of the newly acquired space to suit international tourism standards. The state government has also sanctioned a grant of Rs eight crore for the purpose.

KSTDC Managing Director Kumar Pushkar told DH that tourist inflow had been increasingly steadily.

“We got possession of the guesthouse in 2012. But works are starting now. We are in talks with architects to create the detailed project report and design. After this tenders will be called,” he said. The Corporation has set a 18-month deadline deadline to complete the project.

Sudarshan is one of the prime properties of KSTDC and Tourism department. The other properties are Hotel Mayura Valley View in Madikeri, Mayura River View in Srirangapatna and Mayura Pin Top in Nandi Hills.

Sudarshan currently offers two non-AC suits, nine non-AC deluxe double rooms and 11 non-AC double rooms.
According to KSTDC officials, the bookings are currently
full from Deepavali till New Year.

Mysuru-Bandipur and Ooty circuit also draws more tourists to the Ooty property.
