Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will harvest the paddy he had transplanted three months ago on a field in Sitapura, under Aaralakuppe Gram Panchayat, in the taluk, on Friday.

In an effort to instil confidence among the farmers that the government is on the side of the agrarian community, the Chief Minister had volunteered to transplant paddy sapling at the village on August 11, after the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam in Srirangapatna taluk touched the maximum level.

Now, the crop is ready for harvest. The farmers will begin harvesting the crop after the CM launches the programme. The paddy would be collected and the CM would perform puja to the harvested paddy. He would also address the farmers after that.

He would later participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of an overbridge across the River Cauvery, which would connect Mysuru from Aaralukuppe-Sitapura side, at a cost of Rs 78 crore. Later, he would visit Vadesamudra village and handover compensation cheques to the kin of the victims of the Kanganamaradi bus mishap.

District in-charge Minister C S Puttaraju and officials inspected the spot on Thursday evening. A dais has been erected near the paddy field.
