Man missing for 10 yrs appears before HC

The Karnataka High Court dismissed a habeas corpus petition after man missing for 10 years appeared before the court on Tuesday.

The court was hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by parents of the young man, who went missing from his home in 2009. The man appeared before the court and submitted that he does not want to stay with his family following which the court dismissed the case after recording his statement.

The young man ran away from home citing harassment by his parents. He discontinued his studies and went to several places before reaching Bengaluru where he did odd jobs for survival. He got to know about the petition being filed by his parents in the
High Court and appeared before the court during the hearing on his own accord.

In the last hearing, the court had directed the police to trace the boy.

The petitioners alleged in the open court that some of the police officials had taken money to trace their son.

The court had then directed the DCP East Division to taken action against an ASI and a police constable.

The DCP then appeared before the court and submitted an affidavit stating that both the police officials had been suspended and suitable action would be taken against them.
