Mandya DC transferred on EC's orders

The state government has transferred Mandya deputy commissioner N Manjushri on the directions of the Election Commission on Tuesday. P C Jaffer will take charge as the new deputy commissioner of the district.

Independent candidate A Sumalatha had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that the deputy commissioner was working in favour of coalition candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy during the Lok Sabha election campaign, succumbing to pressure from the chief minister’s office.

The Regional Commissioner conducted an investigation based on the complaint. She also sought the deputy commissioner's transfer to ensure free and fair elections.
