Elderly man claims Raja Seat to be his asset

An elderly man at the flower and horticultural exhibition being held at Raja Seat in the city on Friday claimed that he is a descendant of Haleri royal family and Raja Seat and Madikeri Fort are his assets.

Haleri Chinnanna Nagaraj Wadiyar raised eyebrows of many by roaming in Raja Seat, showing documents and pictures related to the royal descendants of Haleri family. He said he was the true owner of these places.

The government officials and visitors were surprised with his claim.

A year ago, he had stayed at the Madikeri Fort premises and locked up the main entrance of the fort.

Wadiyar said he came from Mysuru on Friday morning. Displaying the pictures of kings and queens of Haleri family, he said that the royal descendants of Haleri are spread across Periyapattana and Mysuru regions.

He claimed that the government had taken over the land which actually belongs to him. He said he has relevant records to prove his claim and expressed his confidence on getting the land back to his custody.
