Kateel aims hat-trick, files nomination papers

Sitting Dakshina Kannada BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel filed his nomination papers from the constituency on Monday.

Puttur MLA and District BJP president Sanjiv Mathandur, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, leaders Purushottam Bhat and Monappa Bhandary were present when Nalin submitted his nomination to District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil.

Nalin, who has been the MP from the constituency for the last two terms, is contesting for the third consecutive time. In his affidavit, Nalin has declared that he has four criminal cases pending before the court.

Earlier, addressing BJP workers at the BJP Election Office (near Bunts Hostel), Nalin said that he believes in people’s blessings.

He said during his current tenure, the NDA-led central government had released Rs 16,520 crore for various developmental activities in Dakshina Kannada district. “Besides my clean reputation, the Modi tsunami will help BJP sweep the polls.”

The sitting MP asserted that Sansad Adarsha Gram Yojana, railway and road upgradation projects will certainly bear fruits.

Puttur MLA and BJP District President Sanjiv Mathandur said the BJP had already begun its campaign in Dakshina Kannada.

The second phase of campaigning will be carried out from April 7 to 14, followed by road shows on April 15 to 16.

Inaugurating the BJP Election Office, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar predicted that Kateel would achieve a hat-trick this time.

The Parliamentary elections are very decisive as it is all about the nation’s interest. BJP will achieve a thumping victory this time.

There is a pro-Modi wave all around the nation, owing to the good governance by the central government.

Stating that the senior Congress leaders are sure about their defeat this time, Sunil Kumar quoted veteran Congress leader B Janardana Poojary saying that Narendra Modi will be the prime minister for the next two terms.

On Mithun Rai’s reported remarks that he would ban Sangh Pariwar if elected, Sunil Kumar ridiculed
and said, “What can this ‘baccha’ do when senior Congress leaders themselves could not do it.”

Elected presentatives D Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Y Bharath Shetty, Umanath Kotian, Harish Poonja and Rajesh Naik and leaders Pratap Simha Nayak, Kishore Rai, Bharati Shetty, Meenakshi Shantigodu, Ravishankar Mijar, Gopalakrishna Herale, Kota Srinivas Poojary and Krishna J Palemar were present.
