A lone tusker from Banavara Reserve Forest has been camping in the villages situated on the periphery of the forest and has been causing extensive damage to crops and houses.
The elephant has damaged the roof tiles and walls of houses in Banavara. Even banana plants and coconut trees have been damaged, alleged the residents.
The villagers have urged the forest department officials to chase the elephant back to the forest.
