Sandal Uroos begins

Devotees take part in a procession held as a part of the Uroos at Sri Gurudattatreya Bababudan Swamy Dargah.

The Sandal Uroos at Sri Gurudattatreya Bababudan Swamy Dargah commenced on Friday. Fakeers and Muslims participated in large numbers.

Shakhadri Sayyad Gouse Moideen and his supporters urged the district administration to allow them to carry out traditional rituals inside the cave. As the district administration refused to grant permission for the same, the devotees offered prayers from outside.

Earlier, the Sandal was taken out in a procession from Athigundi to Bababudangiri. Devotees from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Kerala took part in the Uroos. The Uroos will conclude on March 24.

Over 850 police personnel were deployed for security at Sri Gurudattatreya Bababudan Swamy Dargah. Over 20 CCTV cameras were installed at strategic locations.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Bagadi Gautham and Superintendent of Police Harish Pande were present.
