Monsoon continues to lash U-K, Shivamogga

Uttara Kannada districts and Shivamogga continued to receive intermittent but heavy rainfall on Tuesday.

Heavy rains lashed Karwar for over an hour on Tuesday. Bhatkal, Ankola, Gokarna and Karwar saw sunny weather before the rain in the afternoon. Semi-arid regions received medium rainfall.

Several main roads in Karwar were waterlogged. Business was disrupted for street vendors due to the rain. College students were seen hurrying home under umbrellas.
Uttara Kannada district recorded 13.6 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. The average rainfall for the district in June is 698.2 mm. So far, the district has recorded 249.8 mm rainfall. Ankola has recorded 15.6 mm, Bhatkal 26.4 mm, Honnavar 67.3 mm, Karwar 7 mm, Kumta 7 mm, Mundagod 5 mm, Siddapura 2 mm, Sirsi 1.5 mm, Joida 16.2 mm and Yallapura recorded 1.4 mm.

Shivamogga
Intermittent rain continued to lash some parts of the district. Thirthahalli and Sagar received good rain towards the evening. Some parts of Shivamogga, Bhadravathi and Hosanagar also received rain, while Shikaripur and Sorab witnessed cloudy weather throughout the day.


Kodagu
Madikeri, Virajpet and Somwarpet taluks received moderate rainfall on Tuesday. The district recorded an average of 1 cm rainfall. Since January, the district has received 43.6 cm rainfall, while last year it had recorded 31.5 cm.


The water-level in Harangi reservoir stood at 2806.56 feet. The water inflow was 285 cusecs. Parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi too received intermittent rains on Tuesday.
