The State government will take “a suitable decision at a suitable time” on setting up a memorial dedicated to late Sandalwood thespian Vishnuvardhan, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said Tuesday.
“There has been no clarity for the past 10 years on setting up a memorial for him. Both parties - the Congress and the JD(S) - will discuss and arrive at a concensus, keeping in mind Vishnuvardhan’s contribution,” Kumaraswamy told reporters.
There have been demands to set up a memorial dedicated to Vishnuvardhan at the Kanteerava Studio where two other Kannada cinema legends - Dr Rajkumar and Ambareesh - are cremated.
The government has decided to set up a memorial for Ambareesh at the Kanteerava Studio, akin to the one for Rajkumar.
“We’re making a relic for Ambareesh there. There’s a demand to make one for Vishnuvardhan also. A decision will be taken... I’m not the authority to speak on this,” Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar said.
