'Paa' gets tax rebate

Reliance Big Pictures of Mumbai, the production house of the movie had appealed to the State for exemption of the tax on the grounds that the movie was educative in nature. It deals with treatment of those children suffering from Progeria.

The Government had imposed conditions to avail of this benefit. The production house should not issue honourary entry passes for the screening, pay a deposit as fixed by the Commercial Tax department and has to inform the State government on utilisation of the exempted amount within next two months.

Special screening

Meanwhile, the State government has arranged for a special screening of the film at PVR Cinemas on Saturday evening. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and several of his Cabinet colleagues, will be watching the film with Bachchan. Several of the film’s cast are also expected at the screening.

The film also stars award winning actor from the State Arundhati Nag, who plays the role of Bachchan’s grandmother.  Bachchan is expected to stay back for the wedding of the late film actor Shankar Nag and Arundhati Nag’s daughter Kaavya on Sunday in
Bangalore.
