Paralytic lies in bed 5 days after wife dies on chair

A 60-year-old paralytic man lay helpless in his bed for five days even as his wife had died sitting on a chair nearby at their house at KHB Colony in the city.

The woman, identified as Girija Madivala, 45, had died of a heart attack.

Girija's husband Anandu Madivala could not do anything as he is unable to move and there was no one else in the house.

The woman, who used to work as a domestic help, was managing the expenses of the house and taking care of Anandu with her meagre earnings.

Girija's brother Subramanya, who lives in Honnavar, had dialled his sister, but got no response. Later, the phone had got switched off.

On Sunday, he came to the couple's house and found no response to the knock on the door. He then called the police, who removed the rooftiles, only to find Girija dead and Anandu in a pitiable plight.
