Petrol bombs hurled at forest checkpost near Kalasa

Unidentified persons hurled petrol bombs on Basarikallu forest checkpost near here in the early hours of Sunday.

The staff woke up to deafening sound at 3 am. They spotted a few liquor bottles and wick. They doused the minor fire and found that a portion of the register that was used to write down the details of the vehicles was damaged.

Additional SP Shruthi, Koppa DySP Ramesh Jagirdar, Kuduremukh CPI Ramchandra visited the spot. This is not a naxal act. Locals may have done this to express their anger against the Forest staff. The miscreants have hurled three bottles, filled with petrol, on the checkpost from an elevated place close to it, said police.
