Poll officials working for Congress: BJP

BJP national general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Muralidhar Rao said a complaint will be filed with the Election Commission of India against “some officials working in favour of the Congress government.”

The party is not being permitted to put up hoardings and advertisements in Bengaluru and other places, Rao said. “Also, pro-BJP paintings on compounds of workers’ homes are being removed. This is wrong,” he said.

The party will launch a statewide ‘Namma Mane BJP Mane’ campaign in which its flag will be hoisted atop homes of workers. “About 11 lakh people will be a part of this campaign,” he said.

KR Pet MLA cries foul as JD(S) replaces him

The JD(S) on Monday decided against the candidature of its sitting MLA Narayana Gowda from K R Pet, forcing him to contest as an Independent from the constituency.

Narayana Gowda had filed his nominations on Monday morning. However, by afternoon, he learnt that party supremo H D Deve Gowda had given the ‘C form’ to advocate Devaraj.

A dejected Narayana Gowda said Deve Gowda had let him down. “I have nothing against Kumaraswamy — it’s not his fault... But I don’t know what Gowda is thinking. I have never felt so betrayed. I met him even last night, but he gave me no indication,” he told DH. “I have worked day and night, and spent a lot of money. I have decided to contest the elections as an Independent to make Kumaraswamy the CM,” he added.
