Coalition government coordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah on Sunday said that he would request Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to reconsider the decision to introduce the English as medium of instruction in 1,000 government schools.
“The government should respect sentiments of majority of the people when they are opposed to a policy matter,” he said in the valedictory speech at the Sammelana.
“The Union government should amend the existing Act to protect regional languages. Time is now ripe for the State and the Union governments to work together in this regard,” he said.
