“The term of the Commission will expire on January 16. As many as 110 witnesses have been examined over the past one-and-half-year and four police officers are yet to depose. It requires some more time to examine the witnesses and prepare the report. The government will be requested to extend the term by three months,” Justice Jagannatha Setty said at a press meet here on Saturday.
While refusing to comment on the contents of the final report, Justice Setty, however, said that the Commission will look into reasons for fertiliser shortage and recommend measures to prevent it.
The suggestions will also include laying emphasis on organic farming, providing subsidy to organic manure and payment of additional ex gratia to the victims of firing on humanitarian grounds he revealed.
