Security stepped up for Shimoga SP

Murughan is on the hit list of Maoists, according to a naxal leader nabbed in AP

It is said that a naxal leader, who was nabbed by police in Andhra Pradesh recently, had revealed that Superintendent of Police Murughan was in the hit list of Maoists. The arrested naxal leader was active in Malnad region     after the death of Sketh Rajan.

Following this, the State government has instructed SP Murughan to avail special security.
When S Murughan was serving as Superintendent of Police  of Udupi district, he had played an instrumental role in the success of Idu encounter in which suspected naxals Hajima and Parvathi were killed.

In another encounter near Shankaranarayana, two armed Maoists were gunned down by the police.

Many naxals arrested

In Shimoga also, Murughan has tasted success in anti-naxal operations as many suspected naxals including Jagannath, Korlakote Krishna, Saroja, Suresh, Vijaya Bai were arrested in a span of one year.

Plans to avenge deaths

It is said that naxals, who were planning to avenge the death of their comrades, had targeted Superintendent of Police.

Security has been enhanced around the SP’s residence and office while armed police escort him during the intra-city movements and visit to other places in the district.
