Sena threatens to target hoteliers from Karnataka

Shiv Sena Kolhapur district president Vijay Devani warned on Monday that his organisation would target hoteliers from Karnataka running their business in Maharashtra and send them packing from his state if excesses were meted out to Marathi-speaking in the border areas of the state.

Speaking at the ‘Mahamelava’ organised by the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) here on Monday, to oppose the Winter session of the legislature here, Devani said his party would respond if Marathi-speaking people in Karnataka were subjected to excesses. Devani said Kannada-speaking people in his state would face trouble. Buses of KSRTC would not be allowed to enter Maharashtra, he added.

The MES has been observing Kannada Rajyotsava as Black Day, opposing the inclusion of Marathi speaking areas into Karnataka. MES activists should wield guns, if attempts were made to prevent them from observing Black Day, Devani said.
