Former union minister Janardhan Poojary said that if Chief Minister Siddaramaiah fails to stop Yettinahole project, then Bihar election result would be repeated in Karnataka against the Congress government.

Speaking to media persons here on Monday, he flayed Siddaramaiah for failing to stop the Yettinahole project, which aimed at supplying water to parched districts of Kolar and Tumakuru.

“The State government should implement permanent drinking water projects in the parched districts through rainwater harvesting methods, to mitigate the water woes. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is ignoring the sentiments of people for political reasons,” he added.

Poojary alleged that BJP was politicising the Yettinahole issue by opposing the project only in Dakshina Kannada district. The BJP state leaders should raise their voice against the project in Bengaluru.

He urged the BJP leaders to take a delegation to New Delhi to solve all the water disputes of Karnataka. All the 19 MPs from Karnataka should meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seek Centre’s intervention in solving the water disputes including Mahadayi and Mekedatu, he added.

‘Lessons for all’
The former union minister said that Bihar Assembly election result was a lesson for all the political parties in India. The election result has proved that citizens want development and not intolerance. Attempts to divide the voters on the basis of caste and religion, by sowing the seeds of hatred, have been proved wrong, Poojary added.

“The people in the country want peace and tolerance. If the BJP fails to understand this, it would be a tragedy for them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to control his own ministers and MPs from issuing controversial statements on beef consumption. His silence shows that he is supporting them,” the former minister said.

At a time when scientists, writers, historians are raising their voice against increasing intolerance in the country, Modi has failed to convene a meeting and listen to their concern on intolerance.

The prime minister has failed to visit the houses of deceased farmers and console their family members. Instead of solving problems back at home, the prime minister is engaged in foreign tours, Poojary alleged.

The BJP leaders have no moral right to protest against Minister Anjaneya, when their own ministers are facing corruption charges.

Stating that Tipu Sulthan was a patriot, former union minister said the ‘Salam Mangalarati’ ritual performed at Kollur Mookambika Temple during twilight hours of the day is in reverence to the great warrior and to commemorate his visit to the temple.
