Only 110 students enrol for NEET re-exam

Last Updated 20 May 2019, 05:46 IST

Contrary to the reports of 500 students missing out on the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET) on 5th May due to delay in train, only 110 candidates have registered for the re-exam scheduled for May 20.

The Centre had agreed to hold the second round of NEET for the benefit of those who missed out on the exam last week following repeated requests by the state government. With the last date to register for the second round was May 10, only about 110 students have registered out of the 500 students who had reportedly turned up late on the day of exams, last week, due to the late arrival of Hampi Express.

According to the sources around 30 candidates have registered without giving any specific reason and they will not be allowed to write the examination. "We cannot even get back to those candidates as many of them have sent applications from email addresses of cyber shops. Students were asked to submit the copy of the train ticket and admission ticket along with the application,” said a source.
