PM systemically demolishing country's democracy: HDK

Last Updated 08 February 2019, 12:32 IST

Flanked by Dy CM G Parameshwara and his cabinet colleague Sa Ra Mahesh, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy addressed the press conference in Bengaluru on Friday ahead of the state budget.

He said, "I refrained from giving any media statements the last two days owing to the political developments. I have called you hurriedly for this PC. Parliament is on in New Delhi, while the budget session is on in Karnataka."

"I still remember how PM Narendra Modi bowed his head on the steps of the Parliament. I have observed his statements on the floor of the House yesterday. He spoke about corruption and slammed the Congress," he added.

Chief Minister also said, "PM has attacked my crop loan waiver scheme. Modi, who termed the Parliament the temple of democracy, misled it yesterday by uttering lies. He is systematically demolishing democracy. I request the opposition leaders to raise against Modi. They must Parliament and expose the real truth of the PM. I say this in a lot of pain."

"Modi is projecting himself as the saviour of the country. The state BJP disallowed the Governor from addressing the joint session. If the BJP thinks that my government lacks a majority, then why hasn't it moved the no-confidence motion? Why has it been trooping into the well of the House, disrupting the proceedings, instead?" he added.

"Presenting a budget is not child's play. But the BJP leaders are creating trouble. The Lok Sabha elections will be announced soon. The government activities have to begin from April. What message is BS Yeddyurappa trying to give to the people of the state?" Kumaraswamy added.

"Within two months of me becoming CM in 2006, the BJP leaders tried to finish my political career by levelling corruption charges against me. I will not forget it."

"He is encouraging the use of black to demolish the Democratic system of this country. I demand Modi to reveal who has encouraged the state BJP to topple the coalition government. I am exposing the material now. I want the citizens of this country to judge how the BJP is trying to demolish the democratic system."

"Last night at 1.30 am I got information. One of my MLAs called me at 11.30 pm - 12 am. My party is surviving because of such loyal party leaders. The BJP has continuously claimed that it is not trying to destabilise the government. I demand the PM - one side you are preaching how to maintain our political system - but on the other hand, you are encouraging your friends to demolish the same. If you have any morality, I demand him to take appropriate action. Spill out the truth," Kumaraswamy added.

CM H D Kumaraswamy releases an audio conversation between B S Yeddyurappa and JD(S) MLA Naganagouda Kandakur's (Gurmitkal) son Sharanagouda on Friday. Accuses BJP of trying to lure the MLA. Kumaraswamy demands an explanation from PM Modi on luring the Congress MLAs.
