Tumakuru District Congress has sought the KPCC minimum of three positions in Boards and Corporations.

"The District Congress has requested Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao to accommodate at least three leaders from the district while appointing heads to various Boards and Corporations. We want the district leaders to head Tumkuru Urban Development Authority," Tumakuru District Congress president Kenchamaraiah told reporters on Tuesday.

"A total of 40 candidates have submitted applications seeking positions in the Boards and Corporations. The list has been forwarded to the KPCC," he said.

"We've requested the KPCC to consider conduct and service of the candidates while appointing them," he said.

To a question Kenchamaraiah said: "None of the former MLAs have sought any positions in the Boards and Corporations. I don't know if any leader has made a direct request to the KPCC."

He added: "I am now 74. I have no more strength to occupy any position. Hence, I haven't sought any position. However, I've requested Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao to make me an MLC if possible."

He chose not to comment on former K N Rajanna's statement that he was ready to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

"It is his individual statement, not issued by the party. I don't want to comment on this," he said.

Kenchamaraiah said that a large number of party workers from the district will attend the function in Bengaluru on Wednesday when Dinesh Gundu Rao and Eshwar B Khandre take over as the KPCC president and working president respectively.

He said that the district unit would felicitate G Parameshwara for his contributions to the party.
