The government will ensure that every police station has two sub-inspectors (SIs) to strengthen policing, Home Minister M B Patil said Friday.
“One sub-inspector for law and order and another to investigate crimes,” Patil told reporters. “There are some police stations that already have two sub-inspectors.”
The government, he said, is also considering imparting training to police personnel to deal with cybercrime. "It will help during the investigation if the personnel are trained, given that cyber crimes are on the rise. The training will be based on technology advances and what other states are doing," he said.
On implementing the Auradkar committee report on hiking salary for police personnel, Patil said he will soon discuss it with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. The committee, in its September 2016 report, has recommended a 35% salary hike for the police.
