Lokayukta Inspector Sachin paid a surprise visit to the government-run hostels and offices and warned of taking stringent action against corrupt and lethargic officials.

Sachin visited the Government Boys’ Hostel on K M Road and inspected the facilities. The hostel warden was not present during visit. The students drew the Lokayukta inspector’s attention to the unhygienic kitchen, water storage tank and the storeroom.

“An inquiry will be conducted into the irregularities in the hostel after registering a case,” he said and directed the hostel personnel to keep the hostel premises clean and provide quality food to the inmates of the hostel.

He later visited the taluk office and received memorandums from the public.

The aggrieved applicants shared their grievances and complained about the delay in processing of applications in the Survey Department. The people also complained that they were made to wait for an entire day in order to get the work done.

The staff food and civil supplies section were also accused of not providing information to the people.

He visited the Revenue and Survey Departments to provide proper guidance to people. Disciplinary action will be taken against the erring staff, he said and urged people to submit written complaints against the government departments’ to the Lokayukta.
