Dear Madam,

I have completed BE in Civil Engineering and wish to pursue master’s abroad. Which country and universities are good for Construction Project Management course? Does this field have good job opportunities?

Rohan Mutnal

Dear Rohan,

Construction Project Management has an excellent scope. As long as cities across the world continue to build new residences, office spaces, retail outlets, hospitals, schools, restaurants, bridges, airports, railway stations and other structures we are going to need civil engineers and construction managers to oversee the entire project from start to finish. The best universities to pursue this course are Arizona State University, University of Southern California, Northeastern University, Purdue, New York University and Michigan State University in the US; University of Westminster London, City University and Nottingham Trent University in the UK, TU Munich, TU Berlin, University of Stuttgart, RWTH Aachen in Germany. While the master’s programme is for a duration of two years in the US and Germany, it is a one year programme in the UK. Entry requirement to the US and Germany is a good GPA, an English test like TOEFL or IELTS and the GRE. For UK, you need only the IELTS academic test.

EHL (Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne), Glion Institute of Higher Education, Les Roches and BHMS are the best hotel management schools in Switzerland, Le Cordon Bleu in Australia, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Hotelschool The Hague in Netherlands, Institute of Culinary Education New York University, Cornell university, Boston University, University of Southern California and Penn State University in the US are known for hospitality management courses. International Hospitality and Tourism Management, Recreation and Leisure Services Management, Sports tourism, Senior living Management, Luxury Brand and Retail Management are some of the courses you could pursue.

Dear Madam,

I completed Bachelor’s in Commerce in 2020. Currently I am looking for a job so that I can work for some time and pursue MBA in Europe or New Zealand next year. Which colleges provide full scholarships and which exams I should take?

Mohammed Samran

Dear Mohammed,

To pursue an MBA, you need work experience of at least three years. Universities in New Zealand offer MBM programmes for freshers without work experience or up to one-year work experience. They do offer scholarships based on merit. Getting a full scholarship in the present times can be a bit of a challenge. Nevertheless, there are many universities like Westminster London that do offer full tuition waiver to deserving candidates. Public universities in Germany are free for everyone including international students. The entry requirement for most MBA programmes are GMAT or GRE and IELTS academic or TOEFL iBT.

Dear Madam,

I have completed my bachelor’s degree and am planning to do my PG abroad. My scores in English in Class 10 and 12 are not good. Are there universities that do not require IELTS score?

Mahesh Patil

Dear Mahesh,

All universities require you to take an English test and prove your proficiency in the language. Depending on the country and university, you can opt to take the IELTS, TOEFL DET or PTE. The only time a university waives an English test is when you have scored good marks in English in your Class 12 Board exams. If your English marks in Class 12 were not good, I suggest you prepare for one of the tests mentioned above, take a couple of practice tests before you take the final test. These tests are very simple and easy to crack. They test your basic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. These tests are made mandatory by the universities and visa issuing offices only to ensure students have sufficient knowledge of English to be able to communicate and understand the lectures.
