Pack light, travel light!

Actor Ramesh Aravind believes in travelling hassle-free, writes Shruti Srinath

My profession makes me travel all the time. As an actor, you have songs in films where you dance and sing with heroines in different locales, and there are invariably three songs in every film, and they are mostly shot in picturesque places.

As a director with global collaborations, you travel quite a bit. This happens between studios in Hyderabad, Mumbai and sometimes London and Paris.

Off profession, after every film, for the past four to five years, my family and I have been taking a holiday, far away from the eyes of the world.

Hassle-free traveller

I’m a hassle-free traveller. I don’t get hassled, I don’t hassle others. Being adaptable, I’m comfortable wherever I go, wherever I stay, and however I travel. I enjoy local cuisine and like to know about local cultures. That way I enjoy travel.

Window seat is great as I can lean against it and doze off. And food... I prefer trying what’s on offer. I do find it a trouble sometimes, but overall, I prefer vegetarian fare.

♦ Earlier, travel essentials for me... used to be books, books, books. Of late, it has become a charger and mobile-related stuff. So I need to carry my charger, multi-currency credit card (can be used anywhere in the world), and travel documents.

♦ The most useful travel essential... universal adapter... voltages keep changing as we move time zones.

♦ My travel mantra is: Travel light and keep your mind lighter.

The most recent and enjoyable travel experience... would be filming in the French Riviera and Frejus (France), where we shot Paris, Paris for over 40 days. We worked with the local crew, great local artistes — great food, wine and great film-making at the end of it all.
