Apple Watch Ultra 3 may debut with iPhone 17 series

Apple Watch Ultra 2 was unveiled two years ago and was supposed to get a successor in 2024, but it never materialised. Instead, the Cupertino-based company introduced a new Jet Black colour variant of the Watch Ultra 2 with the Watch 11 series.

Given the size of smartwatches like the Apple Watch, be it Apple or anybody, to add new health tracking sensors or any new component for that matter, every year, and yet keep it under a compact form factor, is a difficult task. Also, for regulatory approvals to add new health features, Apple has to test the devices more rigorously, and this takes time.

Now, a new report has indicated the long wait for the Watch Ultra 3 may finally come to an end next month.

Eagle-eyed folks at MacRumors, while scanning through the source code of recently released iOS 26 public beta software, stumbled on an Apple Watch image with a slightly larger screen compared to the Watch Ultra 2, which, by the way, is the biggest Apple Watch to date.

The new watch has 422 x 514p resolution, slightly better than 410 x 502p resolution on Watch Ultra 2.

This further adds credence to previous rumours related to the Watch Ultra 3. The latter is expected to sport a 49mm same as the predecessor, but with a slimmer bezel. This enables Apple to increase the functional display space on the cover panel.

The new Watch Ultra 3 will have several big upgrades, including satellite connectivity for SOS emergencies when Wi-Fi or cellular networks are not accessible in remote areas.

Further, the new Watch Ultra will support 5G, a first for Apple Watches to date.

It will be powered by S10 chipset and possibly come with Blood Pressure tracking capability. More new features are expected in the new Watch Ultra 3.

Like Apple Watches, the iPhone 17 series is expected to come with big changes in design and internal hardware.
