Apple's foldable device may cost twice that of iPhone Pro Max model

The foldable iPhone is expected to launch in late 2026 or early 2027.

Last month, Apple's new iPhone 16 series hit stores worldwide. Now, a new report has emerged that the Cupertino-based technology major is working on not one but two foldable devices and may come with a hefty price tag.

Tim Long, a market analyst of British bank Barclays in a note (courtesy, MacRumors) to his clients has stated that Apple's foldable iPhone may start at around $2,300 (approx. Rs 1,98,513), almost double that of the current iPhone 16 Pro Max ($1,199 roughly Rs 1,03,522) in the US.

Recent reports indicated that Apple is likely to use high quality foldable screen produced by Samsung Display. And, the hinge which will hold the bendable screen will be made of premium material for long durability.

These two important components are most likely to be the reason for high price tag for Apple's foldable phone.

The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 5.5-inch cover screen and when unfurled, it can spread up to 7.8-inch wide (diagonal).

The second model is said to feature 18.8-inch foldable display, much bigger than an iPad Pro. It is said to run macOS and Apple is expected to retail it as hybrid MacBook with touch display.

Apple is expected is complete the designing of the working prototype models of the foldable iPhone and the hybrid Mac device soon.

If things to as planned, the company is expected to be ready with finalised design and start the mass production of the foldable devices in second half of 2026 and probably hit later that year or early 2027.
