Technology companies Samsung, Infinix, Lenovo, Unix, Sony and others launched tablets, smartphones, speakers, and more this week (August 11-17, 2025).

DH's Gadgets Weekly edition lists the latest personal technology products and related events to keep you abreast of everything happening in consumer electronics.

Lenovo IdeaPad

Lenovo IdeaPad 5G.

It comes with a 10.61-inch 2.5K (2560 x 1600p) LCD screen with up to 500 nits peak brightness, TÜV eye care-certified. It features SIM slot (5G) with a microSD card option, quad speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos and a 3.5mm audio jack.

It houses a 6nm class Qualcomm Snapdragon 69 octa-core processor with Adreno 619 GPU, Android 15-based ZUI OS, 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 256GB UFS storage (expandable up to 2TB), 8MP autofocus camera on the back, 5MP fixed-focus front camera with autofocus and a 7040mAh battery with 20W charger.

The device is available in two variants--Wi-Fi + Pen and 5G cellular + Pen -- for Rs 16,999 and Rs 19,999, respectively.

Lenovo Tab

Lenovo Tab 2025 series.

It comes with a 10.1-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200p) LCD IPS display with 60Hz refresh rate, up to 400 nits peak brightness.

It features a 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a microSD slot, and an optional cellular SIM slot.

Lenovo Tab runs Android 14-based ZUI OS, 12nm class MediaTek Helio G85 octa-core processor, 1000MHz ARM Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU, 4GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB / 128GB eMMC 5.1 storage (expandable up to 1TB), an 8MP primary camera, a 5MP front camera and a 5,100mAh battery with 15W charging capability.

It will be available in two colours-- polar blue and luna grey. It comes in three variants-- 4GB RAM + 64GB (Wi-Fi only), and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage (Wi-Fi only) for Rs 10,999 and Rs 11,999, respectively. There is also a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage (LTE) model for Rs 12,999.

The new earbuds come with an open-ear design, and each bud weighs just 4.4 grams.

Inside, it houses a custom-engineered 11mm dynamic transducer that sits just outside the ear canal, which promises to offer detailed, balanced sound while eliminating ear fatigue.

The slim stems come with touch controls, and users can manage calls, audio, and volume without reaching for their device. The Accentum Open offers up to 6.5 hours of playback on a single charge, with the compact charging case extending battery life up to 28 hours. A quick 10-minute charge provides up to one and a half hours of playtime. It is available in black and white colours-- for Rs 9,990.

The new power bank is said to be built using high-density lithium polymer cells for safe and stable charging.

The integrated LED display provides added convenience, which lets users check battery percentage at a glance.

The UX-1519 offers four output options – 1 high-speed USB port, 1 Type C input and output port, along with two built-in cables – enabling users to charge up to four devices simultaneously. It costs Rs 2,499.

Sony's new 2025 ULT series speakers

Sony earlier this week launched multiple speakers, including ULT Tower 9, 9AC, Field 5, Field 3 and ULTMIC 1 in India.

The new ULT Tower 9 is available in two versions-- Tower 9 and 9AC. They come with the POWER SOUND feature and selectable bass modes (ULT1 and ULT2), to deliver immersive 360-degree audio and light, which can flash in sync with the music.

It is a good option for karaoke with the mic, jamming on a guitar, or enhancing favourite shows with the TV Sound Booster.

For convenience, it comes with a built-in handle and casters for easy portability, a water-resistant top panel for durability, and a built-in power bank to keep the devices charged. It boasts of Sound Field Optimisation that adjusts to ambient noise and can connect up to 100 compatible speakers through the Party Connect feature. They can deliver close to 25 hours of battery life. The Tower 9 costs Rs 84,990, and the 9AC model is priced at Rs 69,990.

ULT Field 5 comes in a rugged, compact form factor with an IP67 rating for water, dust, shock, and saltwater resistance capability. It boasts the ULT POWER SOUND feature, which promises to deliver deep, enhanced audio. With the 10 Band Custom Equaliser, users can fine-tune the sound output.

It can last for 25 hours of battery life and and the ULT FIELD 5 is made to perform wherever you go. Sound Field Optimisation can ensure clear playback even in noisy environments, and has the ability to connect up to 100 compatible speakers through the Party Connect feature. It costs Rs 24,990.

Sony ULT Field 3 also comes with the same features as the Field 5 model, but can deliver up to 24 hours of battery life. It is priced at Rs 17,990.

Sony launched the ULTMIC 1 microphones. It is designed to deliver clear, powerful vocals with minimal background noise.

It features Duet Assist, which is capable of automatically balancing the mic volume during dual performances, so no voice gets lost in the mix. With Plug and Play connectivity, the user has to simply connect the dongle to the ULT Party Speaker’s mic jack and start performing instantly.

With a full charge, it can deliver close to 20 hours of mic playtime. Thanks fast charging feature, it can offer 120 minutes of playtime in just 10 minutes of charging via USB cable. It costs Rs 14,990.

A new Google and Kantar report offers insights on how India's youth engage with news

The report's key findings show that for most Gen Z (65%), news discovery is incidental, happening during moments like idle scrolling.

Social media (91%) and video platforms (88%) are their leading sources for news. While they follow creators more often than news organisations, traditional news outlets still earn their trust.

OnePlus earlier this week announced a partnership with M/s Bhagwati Products Limited to assemble the company's premium Android tablets locally in India.

"The collaboration with BPL marks a strategic milestone in our India journey towards deepening our manufacturing capabilities and expanding our connected ecosystem. By localising tablet production, we are not only reinforcing our commitment to India but also creating meaningful value for our user community. This partnership reflects our long-term vision to innovate for India, invest in India, and grow with India,” said Robin Liu, CEO, OnePlus India.

The company did not specify which tablet models will be manufactured here in M/S Bhagwati Products Limited's factory unit in Greater Noida.. Recently, OnePlus launched the new Pad 3 series and Pad SE.

Google launches Commerce Media Suite

Samsung offer big discounts on Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE series

For a limited time, Samsung is offering discounts on the recently launched Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE. With the new offers, prospective consumers can claim a bank cash back or an upgrade bonus of up to Rs 12,000. The Galaxy Z Flip7 will be available for Rs 97,999 against MRP Rs 1,09,999.

Similarly, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE will be available for Rs 85,999, with the bank cash back or an upgrade bonus of up to Rs 10,000. The MRP of the device is 95,999.

It houses a Samsung Exynos 2400 octal-core processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB storage, Android 16-based One UI 8 OS, dual-camera module— 12MP+50MP with LED flash on the back, 10MP selfie camera on the front and a 4,000mAh battery with 25W charging capability.

Both the foldable phones support Gemini Live, improved Circle to Search, in addition to Galaxy AI-powered Now Bar and Now Brief features.

Infinix GT 30 5G+

It sports a 6.78-inch 1.5K (1224×2720p) AMOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate, offering up to 4500 nits peak brightness.

It is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 7i shield and comes with an IP64 water-resistant rating. It also features an In-display fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster, dual-SIM slots and a Type-C USB port.

It runs Android 15-based XOS 15, and comes with a 4nm class MediaTek Dimensity 7400 octa-core processor, 8GB LPDDR5X RAM with 128GB / 256GB UFS 2.2 storage, a dual-camera module- main 64MP (f/1.75) camera with 8MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide lens and dual LED flash on the back, a 13MP (f/2.2) front camera and a 5500mAh battery with 45W charger.

It comes in two configurations-- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage-- for Rs 19,499 and Rs 20,999, respectively. It is available in three colours-- blade white, with white LED lighting, cyber green, and pulse blue.

Samsung Semiconductor India Research launches ‘Samsung Skill Development Centre’

Samsung Skill Development Centre’ at the Government Polytechnic Kolar Gold Fields. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Roopkala M Shashidhar, Chairperson, Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation; Smt. Manjushree N, Commissioner, Department of Collegiate and Technical Education; Smt. Geethanjali S, Principal, Government Polytechnic KGF, along with over 500 students, faculty, and dignitaries from Samsung and the Government of Karnataka.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) earlier this week opened its first 'Samsung Skill Development Centre' at the Government Polytechnic college in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Karnataka.

The new facility will help students get hands-on learning experience in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), Cybersecurity, Automation, Robotics, and Core Engineering disciplines.

“This initiative marks a pivotal step in enabling a hands-on experience for students in rural Karnataka. We fully support the Government of India’s mission on skill development and are committed to bridging the digital divide.
