Google Pixel 9a series hits stores in India

The new Pixel 9a runs Android 15 OS and is guaranteed to get quarterly feature drop updates along with monthly security updates for seven years (up to 2032).

Google's much-awaited premium mid-range phone Pixel 9a hit stores on Wednesday (April 16) in India.

The latest Pixel 9a sports a 6.3-inch full HD+ OLED HDR display. It supports 120Hz refresh rate and offers up to 2,700 nits peak brightness.

It is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 shield and comes with IP68 water- and dust-resistant rating. It also features a single physical SIM slot (with eSIM option), a Type-C port, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Inside, it comes with Google's propreitary Tensor G4 processor with Titan M2 security chip, 8GB LPDDR5X RAM, 128GB / 256GB (UFS 3.1) storage, and a 5,100mAh battery with a 23W charging speed.

The device runs Android 15 and is guaranteed to get quarterly feature drop updates along with monthly security updates for seven years (up to 2032). Also, it will be the first among eligible phones to get Android 16 in the coming months.

Further, it supports all the latest Gemini AI app features and generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI)-based photography tools.

The Pixel 9a houses dual-camera module-- main 48MP (with 1/1.95-inch Samsung GN8 sensor, f/1.7 aperture, OIS: Optical Image Stabilisation) with 13MP 120-degree ultra-wide angle camera (with Sony IMX712 sensor, f/2.2, PDAF: Phase Detection Auto Focus) with LED flash on the back. It can record videos up to 4K at 60fps.

On the front, it features 13MP wide-angle (96.5-degree) camera (with Sony IMX712 sensor, f/2.2). It can also record 4K videos at 30fps.

Google Pixel 9a comes in one configuration-- 8GB RAM + 256GB storage-- and is available in three colour options-- Iris (purple), Obsidian (black) and Porcelain (white)-- for Rs 49,999 on Flipkart and authorised retail outlets including Tata's Croma stores.
