Update your Apple devices with new security patches now, says CERT-In

In India, which has a population of more than 140 crore, there are more than 65 crores users with mobile devices. By the end of 2026, it is expected to breach the 100 crore mark.

Smartphones, tablets, and computers offer a lot of convenience as users can hire cabs, order food, buy apparel on e-commerce, watch movies/TV on OTT apps, do research work for a school project and even make a PPT for work. However, if not cautious enough, naive users may fall victim to cyber crimes.

While users are advised not to venture too deep into to dark web, online platform owners such as Google, Apple, and others are also responsible for making sure there are no security vulnerabilities in their products.

In the latest development, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has flagged security vulnerabilities in Apple devices.

"Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products, which could allow an attacker to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, gain elevated privileges, or cause denial-of-service (DoS) conditions on affected systems," says CERT-In notification

Apple has acknowledged the issue and has released iOS 18.6, iPadOS 18.6, and macOS 15.6 to respective devices, iPhone, iPads and Mac computers. As a goodwill gesture, Apple has even rolled out special security patches for older devices as well.
