‘Waiting for Gadkari to open 2 flyovers on Feb 28’

Last Updated 19 February 2019, 17:47 IST

JD(S) State Vice President M B Sadashiv said, “We are eagerly waiting for Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate two flyovers at Pumpwell and Thokkottu on February 28, as promised by Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.”

Speaking to reporters, he said, “Very few days are left for the completion of the work on the flyovers. The MP is engaged in making tall promises that are filled with lies.”

He said the BJP MLAs from Dakshina Kannada had failed to raise their voice in support of the farmers of the district in the recently concluded session. According to the available statistics, the state government has waived loan of Rs 58.38 lakh borrowed by farmers from commercial banks in the district so far.

The government has waived Rs 114.57 crore loan borrowed by 14,917 farmers in the district. Loans will be waived in a phased manner. This is the highest amount waived by any government in Karnataka, Sadashiv said. Coming down heavily on the BJP for mocking the loan waiver scheme of the state government, he said the Union government had insulted the farming community by announcing a meagre of
Rs 6,000 to be given in three instalments.

Former minister Amarnath Shetty said that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has promised to give taluk status to Mulki in the supplementary budget. “Due to technical reasons, Mulki taluk could not be announced in the budget.”

JD(S) district unit President Mohammed Kunhi accused the BJP of stooping to low level to topple the coalition government in the state.

The BJP will fail in all their attempts to destabilise the government. In the Lok Sabha polls, the JD(S) and Congress will unitedly fight to defeat BJP candidate in Dakshina Kannada district.
