"The Pakistanis try to get out of facing tough questions by anti-American statements in Pakistani media," The News quoted the US official as saying.

"Only recently, we gave them intelligence based on electronic means that one Mumbai incident accused was still using a cell phone from prison but nothing has happened. How can we trust them in such environment?" he asked.

The November 2008 Mumbai terror attack left 166 people killed.
Then US President George Bush had issued a statement that Pakistan's spy agency Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) was not involved in the Mumbai attack.

The media report said this was due to the personal efforts of Pakistan’s ambassador to US, Husain Haqqani. Islamabad, in return, assured complete cooperation in probing the Mumbai incident which had considerably strained its ties with India.

Americans said that Pakistan didn't stick to its side of the bargain and serious action was not taken against Mumbai incident accused until now.
