KSRP constable missing, family files complaint

The police are on the lookout for a 23-year-old reserve police constable who mysteriously went missing from work on October 20.

The constable, Shantaram, joined the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) force and underwent training for eight months in Belagavi before joining for duty at the 4th KSRP Battalion in Koramangala on October 18. Soon after joining, he resigned from his position citing personal reasons and agreed to pay Rs one lakh, an amount levied by the state government for trained personnel who quit job soon after training.

Shantaram, a resident of Afzalpur in Kalaburgi, asked his family members to arrange for the money. On October 20 his elder brother Dattatreya transferred Rs 50,000 to his bank account and promised to send the rest later.

Shantaram confirmed the receipt of the amount to his brother but the next day he went missing from work. His unauthorised absence was noticed by his senior officials, but when they called him his mobile phone was not reachable.

The officials later contacted his family to inquire about him. His father, Satappa, along with Dattatreya searched for his son before filing a complaint with the Madivala police. Based on the complaint, the police are now trying to track him down through his call detail records and bank transactions.
