Last Updated 18 April 2019, 09:15 IST

There are 90,83,554 voters in Bengaluru, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said.

The commissioner, also the district election officer (DEO), told reporters on Wednesday that of the total voters in the BBMP limits, 47,33,562 are male and 43,48,452 are female voters while 1,540 are others.

Three Lok Sabha constituencies — Bangalore North, Bangalore Central and Bangalore South — come under DEO.

The counting centres identified for the three constituencies are St Joseph’s Indian College near Mallya Hospital for Bangalore North, Mount Carmel College for Bangalore Central and SSMRV College in Jayanagar for Bangalore South.

“To educate people about voting procedures, we will distribute voters’ guide to each family from April 5,” said Prasad.

“Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) will be distributed to the voters by April 11. The new voters will be given voter ID with photographs. We have 8,500 booth-level officers to complete the procedures,” the officer added.

The 400 voting booths will webcast, and 1,600 highly sensitive booths have been identified, where micro-observers will be deputed.

“The election commission complaint call centre (1950) in the city has received about 24,277 calls so far regarding various complaints,” said Prasad.
