Rain pours woes on city

Heavy rain brought the city to its knees with waterlogging reported in many areas on Friday evening.

As it began to pour in the evening, commuters heading back home from work were stuck. Traffic at the Central Silk Board junction in BTM Layout was paralysed due to rain.

Outer ring road near EcoSpace at Doddanekundi, Bannerghatta Road between Mico Bande and Anepalya and Sarjapur Road reported slow moving traffic due to waterlogging on the main road. The situation was similar on Jayamahal Road but traffic eased after the rain stopped.

Some parts of Koramangala 4th Block also witnessed minor waterlogging.

The rain not only crippled traffic in the city but also led to power disruptions in Koramangala 8th Block and parts of Indiranagar.

A few trees and some branches came crashing down due to strong winds in some areas.

Kempegowda Road in Gandhinagar, Nandini Layout, Mahalakshmi Layout and RT Nagar reported tree falls.

Two trees were uprooted in Rajajinagar while three electric poles were brought down at Bhashyam Circle due to strong winds.

However, no one was injured.

The city received 16.2 mm rainfall till 5.30 pm. HAL and BIAL reported 13.6 mm and 0.2 mm rainfall respectively. The Met office has forecast rain for two more days in the city.
