Trains slowed at Trinity metro station due to repairs

The passengers travelling via purple line of Bengaluru Metro were slightly disrupted on Wednesday as trains delayed. The trains slowed down near trinity metro station as work on one of the pillars was going on.

During one of the visual inspections, the officials found honeycomb in a concrete beam near Trinity Station and hence the speed restrictions were imposed at this location. The trains ran 15 minutes late as a result of this.

“While regular inspections were carried out by our maintenance team, a honeycomb under the concrete beam was found and the restoration work is in progress,” said Yeshwanth Chavan, PRO of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL)

When DH visited the spot, a raised steel platform was erected blocking a part of the road where engineers carried out their tests at one of the pillars. A concrete slab supported by a pillar was found slightly moved from its position and hence a metal jack has been placed next to the pillar to support the slider.

“A more detailed inspection of concrete is required to be done through non-destructive method to ensure the concrete is strong,” added Chavan. He said that the affected portion is very small and may not affect the overall safety of the structure as the tests are conducted with necessary precautions. The work will take another three days to complete.
