Coastal culture draws youth from Uttarakhand

Udupi Zilla Panchayat President Dinakar Babu said India was the only country with diverse culture and youth should adopt the cultural diversities of different areas in order to become successful individuals.

Speaking after inaugurating inter-state youth exchange programme. organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra-Udupi, on Monday, Babu called upon the youth to incorporate the values to become good citizens of the country.

He said that youth are an asset who lead the nation in future. It is essential that youth are guided for better ethical and responsible life, he said.

Babu added that these sort of programmes help the youths to incorporate better thoughts and cultural knowledge.

This youth exchange programme is envisioned under ‘Ek Bharat Shresta Bharat,’ an initiative of Government of India.

As many as 50 youth from Uttarakhand have come to learn the culture of Udupi and coastal places. There are also 50 youth from Karnataka taking part. This is purely a cultural exchange programme wherein the youth will exchange and deliberate on different aspects of culture which includes language, art, dance forms, music and food.

Udupi for first time is hosting this programme.

Fifty selected youth from Karnataka will also go to Dehradun and spend days from February 4 to 28 to know their culture.

The Uttarakhand youth will be taught at least 100 Kannada sentences to make them converse in Kannada.
