Last Updated 08 July 2018, 16:30 IST

Monsoon is the most loved season by everyone. Well, its engaging nature tempts us to have a chit-chat with tea, coffee and some street food. But be careful, because the most loved season can even bring lots of allergies and problem to your hair and skin.

Fret not, we have compiled a list of handy hair and skin care tips.

Hair care tips

Keep your hair dry- We all loves to get wet in rain but the water is really impure and is very acidic. So try not to get wet because that is really not healthy for your hair. Umbrella and plastic caps can work well for that.

Wash your hair twice a week- You should go for hair bath 2/3 times a week in order to remove all the dirt and fungus infection throughout the season. Deep conditioning shampoos are the best option to keep your scalp clean.

Oil massage- We all know that the oil massage is the one best option every time. Do massage your hair with hot oil twice a week. To reinvigorate and moisturise your dry scalp, oil massage is a must. But also, do not use the oil much otherwise you will end up doing over shampooing which will damage your hair.

Conditioning- We often apply conditioner without knowing the direction of usage. Conditioner should not be applied in the scalp. It should be used only to the ends and the length of your hair. Wide tooth comb helps in spreading it all over your hair.

Use homemade remedies to keep your hair healthy. The acidic air damages your hair a lot and compels you to go for expensive hair treatments. But there are many home and chemical free remedies which can make your hair healthier than your higher rate spa treatment.

Skin care tips

Cleansing- Must do. This tip should become a part of your daily routine. In order to keep your skin healthy and dirt free, clean your face before going to sleep. Himalaya, Nivea and VLCC are some good brands for cleansing milk.

Exfoliating- Once a week, you should exfoliate your skin. It helps in removing dirt and open skin pores and makes your skin glow. Some natural ingredients like coffee, sugar with lemon, baking soda or rice flour can be the best for nourishing your skin.

Toning- Toning is done usually after cleansing to remove leftover dirt. Green tea, lemon juice, rose water and cucumber water can work well to tone your skin.

Moisturising- Never ever leave your skin without moisturising it. Even if you are having oily skin, use oil-free moisturisers. Monsoon can make your skin dry and dull, moisturising helps in keeping it soft, glowing and hydrated. Coconut oil can be used as it does not makes your skin oily.

Sunscreen- If you think that you don’t need sunscreen in monsoon then you are wrong. Because even on rainy days you need to be protected from harmful UV rays.
