2 Youth Cong workers hacked to death in Kasargod

Two Youth Congress workers were allegedly hacked to death on Sunday night in Kasargod district in North Kerala.

In protest against the killing, the Congress has called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district on Monday. Congress workers alleged that CPM activists were behind the double murder in Periya near Bakel.

The deceased were identified as Kripesh (24) and Sarathlal alias Joshi (29). Sources said they were attacked at around 8 pm by a gang of unidentified people who had arrived in a car.

Kripesh died on the spot, while Sarathlal succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Mangaluru.

Political tension has prevailed in the area for some time and the murders were suspected to be in retaliation to earlier clashes.
