Putting to rest the ongoing blame game between the ruling TDP government and the YSR Congress party over the attack on YS Jaganmohan Reddy the remand report submitted by Malla Seshu, Inspector Police Airport Police station at the VII Additional Magistrate Court says that the intent of the attacker was to kill Jagan.
Janipalli Srinivasa Rao, an Airport cafeteria staffer on Thursday attacked Jagan with a sharp-edged knife used in cockfights. The court remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody.
Could have been Fatal
The remand report says “If the knife hits the neck, he might have died. Therefore, the accused had committed the offence of the attempt to do away with his life of a VIP, YS Jaganmohan Reddy and committed an offence punishable under section 307 IPC”. It further added, “Because of the alertness (of Jagan) the knife pricked left side area resulting bleeding jury”.
The report also says that the injury was to the extent of five inches. However, the lady Doctor from Apollo hospital who has provided first aid to the opposition leader at the airport has mentioned in her report that the injury was to the extent of 0.5 cms both in length and depth.

The report narrating the turn of events said that Jaganmohan Reddy came to the airport at 12.22pm from Parvathipuram along with few followers. After refreshing at the toilet at the VVIP lounge he sat for a while. The attacker accompanied one restaurant staffer Ramadevi after Jagan’s followers ordered Tea in the guise of bringing water bottles. After they were told that Jagan drinks only Coffee she returned to the cafeteria while Srinivasa Rao stayed back. When the revenue officials told Jagan that the check-in time is closing by at 12.38pm, he stood up.
Even as a party worker Dharmasri requested Jagan for a selfie, the accused attacked Jagan. Jagan moved towards his right and shouted a cry. The police also confiscated a blade and a 10-page handwritten letter, from the attacker immediately after was overpowered by the CISF and Jagan’s personal guards, the report said. One Revathi Pathi and Vijayalakshmi allegedly helped him writing that letter.
Stand Vindicated: YSRCP
YSRCP former MP YV Subba Reddy has said that their stand that the attack was preplanned to kill their leader was vindicated.
