Mandya bus mishap: driver gets bail

The civil court on Monday granted bail for the driver of the bus accused of plunging a private bus into a canal in Kanaganamaradi, leading to the death of 30 passengers.

Shivanna, the driver, was absconding since the day of mishap. He was first traced in Bengaluru and later arrested from his relative’s house in Nagamangala on Sunday.

According to Shivanna, he steered the vehicle to left in order to avoid an electric pole. After being rescued by a farmer, he had escaped to Bengaluru.
