10-lane highway to be ready in 30 months: MP

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha said, the work to develop Mysuru-Bengaluru highway into 10-lane road would be completed within 30 months.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the works at Gananguru in Srirangapatna taluk, on Sunday, he said, “The work was inaugurated in March 2018. Dilip Buildcon Company, which has taken up the work, has assured of completing the works in 24 months, well before the deadline.”

The works are being taken up in two phases – Columbia Asia Hospital in Mysuru to Nidagatta, and Nidagatta to Panchamuki Temple, NICE Road.

“Around 80% land acquisition has been completed for both packages. The total estimate of the two packages is Rs 7,550 crore. Of which Rs 2,600 crore is earmarked for land acquisition. The remaining will be invested in construction works. Around 11 base camps have been set up,” the MP informed.

“The stretch includes 52 km bypass at Srirangapatna, Mandya, Maddur, Channapatna, Ramnagara and Bidadi. As many as four major bridges, 17 minor bridges and two overbridges are being proposed, under package 1. In addition, bus shelters on service roads, rest areas, flexible pavement, elevated roads will be constructed,” he said.

Simha said, the project is 100% Union government-funded and the state has extended its full support in the land acquisition process.

Once the 10-lane becomes operational, there will be no traffic jams on the highway as 59 over and underpasses will be constructed. The journey between Mysuru and Bengaluru will be reduced to 90 minutes, according to an officer.
