Air India not to carry grounded Jet Airways' passengers

Last Updated 02 March 2019, 16:33 IST

Air travellers possessing tickets on cancelled flights of Jet Airways will no longer be able to fly on Air India planes as the national air carrier has terminated a pact with the beleaguered airline.

“With immediate effect and till further notice, Jet Airways (India) Limited and Jet Lite Limited documents (including FIM and endorsed/involuntary rerouted/rebooked/exchanged/reissued documents) are not to be accepted for travel on Air India flights,” an internal letter signed by Madhu Mathen, General Manager (Marketing), Air India said.

An FIM is a document issued by an airline as an alternate ticket that permits a passenger to take another airline in case the original flight gets cancelled.

Generally, when an airline cancels a flight due to some exigencies, other airlines accommodate the former's passengers in their flights.

The airline whose flight is cancelled has to pay other airlines for accommodating its passengers.

Jet Airways has recently grounded 21 of its aircraft due to non-payment of dues to lessors.
