<p>The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Haryana, has come out with a list of 17 technical education institutions, many of them in Gurgaon and the National Capital Region, which are conducting technical programmes purportedly without the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).<br /><br /></p>.<p>The department, which issued a revised list on July 17, has also advised students and parents not to take admission in “unapproved or bogus institutions”. An official spokesperson said some bogus universities, colleges and institutions were duping students by charging heavy fee and also issuing fake degrees and certificates. The department cautioned students to check the status of approval of the institute concerned on the department’s website before taking a decision.<br /><br />The list of institutions included Algol School of Management and Technology, Gurgaon; Ansal Institute of Technology, Gurgaon; College of Hospitality and Tourism, Gurgaon; GD Geonka World Institute, G D Geonka Education City, Sohna-Gurgaon Road; ICAII Institute of Management and Technology, Mohali campus, Chandigarh; ICFAI Business School, and ICFAI National College -- both in Gurgaon.<br /><br />Other institutes included in the revised list are IILM for Higher Education, Gurgaon; IIPS Panipat, Institute for International Management and Technology, Gurgaon; Institute of Apparel Management, Gurgaon; International Institute of Hotel Management, Gurgaon; NIAM Centre for Analytics and Research Excellence, Faridabad; Skyline Business School, Gurgaon; Shree Balaji Institute of Computer, Panchkula; International Institute of Management, DLF phase-2, Faridabad, and Fazlani Altius Business School, DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon.<br /><br />In case of the programmes run under distance mode by deemed universities, the approval of UGC-AICTE-DEC joint committee is mandatory and the matter is being dealt by the Distance Education Council, Indira Gandhi National Open University. </p>
