<p>Several classes were disrupted on the north and south campuses on Monday with members of Akhil Baharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protesting against the election process and the police lathicharge on Saturday. </p>.<p> <br />Students filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court on Monday afternoon demanding a probe into the counting process of DU Students Union’s (DUSU) elections which concluded with the ABVP defeat on Saturday. Members claim that it was a successful bandh as nearly 80 per cent of classes were cancelled. “We approached maximum number of colleges across North campus. We convinced students to boycott their classes and support us. There was resentment in some cases but they agreed later. Colleges like Daulat Ram had already cancelled their classes,” said Rohit Chahal, state secretary ABVP. <br /><br />Students staged a protest against the management shouting slogans. They submitted a memorandum to DU proctor and vice chancellor. They alleged lack of transparency in the election process, use of money and adoption of corrupt practices adopted by the winning party National Students Union of India (NSUI). They demanded suspension of security guards for beating candidates . <br /><br />Students have also filed a police complaint against the security guards for thrashing students. ABVP members further allege that NSUI candidates spent a huge amount on freebies like chocolates and cinema tickets. <br /><br />They have demanded a thorough inspection of the voting and counting procedure with the help of CCTV cameras across 25 DU colleges. “We are also demanding that the DU administration should hold fresh elections. The chief election officer was seen using the mobile phone during the counting process which is a violation,” said Chahal.<br /><br />Some faculty members also confirmed that classes were disrupted. North Campus witnessed tight security with several police personnel taking campus rounds.<br /></p>
